Obituary for June Fackrell

Jennie June Pence was born in Saint Francisville, Missouri, on March 17, 1933, to Adah Pence (1890 – 1978), and Clifford Pence (1903 – 1947). June’s older sister is Betty Spreen, who was married to Leonard Spreen (deceased). June and Betty had four half-sisters and half-brothers from their mother’s original marriage to Walter Bennett. The four siblings to June and Betty were: Iola Bennett, Vincent Buddy” Bennett, Vera Bennett, and Darlene Bennett.
Throughout June’s childhood, she lived in Saint Francisville, Missouri; Keokuk, Iowa; Saint Louis, Missouri; Bloomington, Illinois; Mahomet, Illinois; and Champaign, Illinois. June attended Mahomet High School, in Mahomet, Illinois having graduated with the 1949 – 1950 Senior class. She participated in a variety of school plays, chorus groups, and clubs. June worked for the University of Illinois, at Champaign, Accounting Department, between 1950 and 1952. Shortly thereafter, June moved to Southern California attending San Diego State University as a voice major. She remained in San Diego until her death.
In 1953, June gave birth to her oldest son, David Angel, and in 1955, gave birth to her youngest son, Doug Angel.
In 1963, June became a Christian while attending Scott Memorial Baptist Church, under the leadership and teaching of Pastor Tim LaHaye. Also, significantly contributing to her conversion to Christianity was Dr. Billy Graham.
In May 1973, June met Rey Fackrell, they developed their friendship and affection for each other, and in the process she introduced him to Christianity. On November 30, 1973, Rey married June, with the ceremony held at College Avenue Baptist Church. At that time, Rey taught at Patrick Henry High School. In total, he taught in excess of 40 years throughout the San Diego community, and retired in June 2000, at the age of 69. Rey taught Art, Spanish, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. Rey graduated from Grossmont High School, in 1950, completed his Undergraduate education at San Diego State, in 1957, and his Masters Degree at Cal Western, in 1965. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 through 1954. Together, they attended a variety of Christian churches in the greater San Diego area.
Some of June’s greatest activities and interests included sewing, needlework, quilting, designing jewelry, walking, running, reading and studying, Bible study, supporting the Jewish Hebrew Mission located in Mission Valley, singing, and yes, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

June died in her home on July 27, 2017 at the age of 84. She will be buried at Miramar National Cemetery on August 9, 2017, at 11:30am. June’s immediate family members are listed in the following:
