Pauline Maire Deschesnes McCormick, 77, of Concord, NC passed away on July 30, 2017 at home surrounded by her family, after a brave 17- year battle with cancer.

Pauline was born April 6, 1940 in Cheshire, CT to the late Oscar and Simone Deschesnes .

Pauline was a devoted Daughter, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who selflessly expressed her love with her thoughtful words and actions. She faced her battle with cancer with a strong faith in God and with courage, offering up her suffering for those she dearly loved. As she showed her loved ones how to live, so she also showed them how to die.

Pauline graduated Waterbury Catholic High School in Waterbury, Ct, in 1958, and earned her Associates degree in business in 1983 from North Country College in Saranac Lake, NY. In between those years she Married Bernard (BJ) McCormick on May 28,1960 moved to Saranac Lake, NY and raised five children Susan (David) Massey of Statesville, NC, Mark McCormick of Concord, NC, Daniel McCormick of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Karen(GT) Benton of Concord, NC and Amy (Jeffery) Reynolds of Wexford, PA. In 1985 Pauline and Bernard (BJ) moved to Concord, NC where they started a family construction business with their sons. Pauline was the President and chief financial officer of the successful construction and Multifamily housing companies that she ran up until her retirement. Upon her and BJ’s retirement they traveled the United States and many counties together some of their travels included Ireland, Italy, Russia and Panama. Of all of their travels Rome and taking cruises were her favorites.

Pauline was an active member of Saint James the Greater Catholic Church in Concord, NC. She was active in the RCIA program where she loved to share her Catholic Faith. She was also a volunteer with Mary’s visitors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Roger DeShane.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, children and grandchildren Jon Swinyer; Amber Kelley; William (Amber) Sutton, Emily Reynolds; Rebecca Reynolds; Alana Reynolds; Joseph Reynolds and Marie Reynolds; 4 great grandchildren Jon, Jasmine, Jane and Madelyn. Sisters: Doris Bowery, Jeanne(Jim) O’Brian(Jim), Dolores (Mike) Walker and brother Robert (Frances) Deschesnes sister in laws Glenda DeShane and Marcy O’Neil and brother in law William McCormick and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 till 11:00 am on Thursday August 3, 2017 at St. James The Greater Catholic Church. A mass will follow at 11:00 am with Father Jerome Chavarria officiating. Burial will take place at St. James the Greater cemetery immediately after the mass.

Although we are saddened by her physical death, we are comforted by our hope for her eternal life with God.
