I’d like to start out by saying thank you from my family for coming to show your love to the person that we had the privilege to not only call mom but grandma. She was my confidant, my shop pal, constant supporter in good times and in bad and above all she was my very first and forever best friend. Mom had a great joy for life, she had a humble but happy childhood. Her stories of life with my grandparents always made us smile. She loved playing in the mud, hanging with her cousins, but most of all coon hunting with her dad. Mom had a love of dancing, in her teen years she would go out on occasion with her brother and always wanted to do the dance referred to as the dirty dog. He as her old brother didn’t like the hunching dance, but we all know mom. Anyone who ever seen her out would see her dancing and smiling. Her smile was ever present along with her jewelry and bling. In her teenage years while riding the school bus she met a guy on the steps after getting in trouble, she did not like him and he stated he would marry her someday, well he was right and he was the love of her life. In October of 1966 Donnie and Jan were married and three children were born to this union. In addition to the three of us, mother was blessed to be the mom figure to her three nephews who she loved as her very own. In July of 1983 their lives took a tragic turn when they lost their baby boy. As difficult as the time was mom was the strong one for our family. She cared for dad, myself and Jason and bottled up her hurt to make sure we were ok, that’s who she was. Always caring for everyone with a smile on her face no matter her own pain. She drove a school bus for my first day of kindergarten, until Jason’s last day of high school. The response from people she drove that still came up to her and said hello gave her a smile and some sort of story she always remembered about everyone. With this being her chosen profession we were lucky to get to spend the summers with her. We have had so many adventures, we camped, traveled and we were a true family. It was filled with many ups and downs but she did the very best for us. As we grew up she had time to play bingo, cards, travel and fish with dad and friends. Then came the next two sparkles in her life, Madison and Macie. When they were young nothing gave her greater joy than just being with them. Whether it was taking them to Branson, talking to them or her beaming when she talked about them. She was their biggest fan. The love and joy they gave her carried her through her darkest hours. She traveled to forty-nine states with Alaska being the last of her bucket list. We had the great privilege of traveling there as a family. The smile on her face when exploring those adventures is one I will hold onto forever. I could go on and on and on about her as you all know, even in my seldom aggravation with her she was a wonderful, beautiful, precious soul. Now I would like to say one short thing from a person who is not in our family but her words speak of how people thought of my Janie Sue. I would like to say a couple short things from people who have sent facebook messages to us during this time. Because if really sums up mom not only through our perspective but everyone who knew her. Thank you Janie for teaching us all how life is supposed to be lived and never losing your sparkle. I Remember when I was little and Donnie had passed, Aunt Jodie would always say he was looking down upon us from the prettiest cloud through the hole of light beaming thru. As sad as it is, I am happy Jannie and Donnie are able to be together once again, watching and guiding us from the most beautiful cloud. The have made great impacts in my life, teaching me life lessons to let go and enjoy life. “You are a beautiful, hilarious, kind spirited soul, I’m sure you’re finally in the arms of the man you’ve been wanting to be with for a while. Anyone who had the privilege of talking to you knew how much you missed him. If I’m not dancing like you in my 60’s, 70’s and 80’s then I won’t be living, I think you taught everyone there is never an expiration date on fun unless you put one on it yourself. I’m going to miss your stories, smile and dancing, but most of all I’m going to miss your presence. I’m sure you’re the life of the party up there and we will always miss you down here beautiful”. In closing I’d like everyone to listen to this song, think of mom and try to live by these words. Cause my mom was always smiling, sparkling, humble and kind.
