Obituary for Wanda Jean Bartley
Wanda J. Bartley, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2017. She was born in Raceland, Kentucky on March 18, 1932. She was 85 years old. She had five children: Brenda Bartley, Angela Maddox, Ronnie Bartley, Rena Hughes and James Bartley. She had five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bartley moved to Bushnell in 1954 and made it her home. She loved to cook, read and go to Gospel sings. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church since 1955. She also liked to go to nursing homes and assisted living homes and sing to them with her church group. She had a part in making lap robes and bibs for them also.
She worked for Hanover Shoe Company for a few years as a supervisor and when it closed down she worked for Independent Life Insurance for eight years. Her last job was for Bushnell Post Office as a rural carrier for seventeen years.
She was predeceased by her father James B. Adkins, mother, Myrtle Adkins, and her husband, Herbert Bartley.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Florida Baptist Children's home.
A service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. (with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00) at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Philip Howe officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, Florida.
