Obituary for Salvatore T. DeRosa

Salvatore T. DeRosa of Mount Vernon, NY passed away on Tuesday, August 15, he was 88 years old. Sal was born in the Bronx on August 19, 1928 to Josephine and Gennaro DeRosa. He had an older brother, John, and is survived by his sister, Rosemarie.
Sal was born in a traditional Italian neighborhood and had maintained friendships throughout his entire life. The most important of these is his wife, Valentine DeRosa and they were married for almost 63 years. He is predeceased by his wife, Val, sons Paul and Thomas, daughter, Donna and his grandchildren, Dana, Jenna, Cozy, Ciara, Reese, Aryka and Akasha.
Sal was a vetren of the Korean Conflict in the United States Army and later worked with his brother, John DeRosa, to create a successful construction and real estate empire. Later, he owned his own business, Mas-De Contractors, doing renovations and additions until his retirement.
During their retirement years, Sal and Valwould travel extensively, They visited Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, as well as many places throughout the United States. Sal will be remembered for his extreme generosity and constant concern for the wellbeing of his family.
A celebration of Sal’s life will be held on Friday August 18, at the funeral home from 4 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 19, at 9:45am at Sts. Peter and Paul Church 129 E. Birch St Mt Vernon NY 10552.
