Condolence: Condolences on your loss. Virginia's research has inspired my own work on salamanders in California, starting with my PhD work. Virginia was an original thinker and some of her ideas are new able to be explored in ways that weren't possible back in the 1970s. Her work continues to contribute to our understanding of evolution and ecology. I'd love to get in touch with surviving friends and family to her more about her. I looked her up a few times over the years but was unsuccessful in connecting with her. Robert Jaeger asked about her several years ago at an academic conference. I wish I had been able to speak with her before she left us. My PhD advisor was Sam Sweet who knew Virginia well during their time at the MVZ. If she left any academic works that we could archive in her honor either here at UCSB or at MVZ I would be happy to facilitate that.
