The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Patrick Donahue can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Yvonne Brinkman
Condolence: As I was preparing to leave for work on another assignment, I came upon Patrick’s business card and decided to look him up online to say hello. An immediate sense of loss overwhelmed me when I learned of his death, and through my tears, began writing good-bye instead.

It was an honor to work with Patrick at the Brattleboro Retreat when I was there as a travel nurse. He treated each and every patient, visitor, and fellow employee with dignity and respect. Although I only worked a 13-week contract almost ten years ago, I still see his eyes studying those around him. He had the uncanny ability to understand, to absorb, to adapt, and to emphasize. He also had an intuitive radar for nonsense, but never judged nor dismissed.

He was perhaps wisest man I have ever had the honor to work with. I will always remember him.

My most profound sympathies to his family and friends. May we all strive to be as humble as Patrick and to pass on our knowledge when we are able.

Condolence: It is so evident that Patrick was loved by his family. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Death is so hard to take, especially when one is still young. Revelation 21:4 gives us the wonderful hope that things will not always be like this. That verse states: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” The beautiful resurrection will restore life to our loved ones who have passed away. “Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust (the grave)...and the earth shall cast out the dead.” (Isaiah 26:19) King James Version

Condolence: I am so sorry and sad to just learn of Patrick's passing ! He rented from me in my house after a divorce and I felt save while he was there. He was extremely kind and gentle and a handsome man as well. Heaven just received someone we could have been still blessed with. He made the world a better place.

Condolence: My condolences and the condolences of Running Fist Kung fu, of New England, to the family of Patrick Donahue. He was a kindred spirit in the martial arts world in Brattleboro VT. , that will greatly be missed. He was the first instructor and school that I had visited and befriended when I arrived in Brattleboro. My heart and prayers go out to his family and students.

Condolence: I only just learned of his passing and am still trying to sort out the appropriate words. All I can say for now is that he is one of the few men responsible for guiding me to becoming the person I am today, and I deeply regret that I did not do more to show my appreciation for that. I cannot speak as to his personal life but he was without a doubt a pillar of the martial arts community in Brattleboro and we are all left lesser without him. My heart goes out to his family and I hope they understand how much he truly affected and raised up many, many people. I will miss him dearly and will never forget a thing that he taught me.
