Obituary for Donald G. Painter


Donald G. Painter 88, passed away Thursday afternoon August 31st at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born and educated in Schenectady, Donald was the son of the late Harold and Helen (Darby) Painter and a graduate of the General Electric Apprenticeship Program.

A draftsman for over 42 years with the General Electric Company, Donald was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Mohawk Valley Art and Wood Carver Association.

Donald is predeceased by his brother Edward Painter.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 64 years, Iva (Hamm) Painter who he married on September 20, 1953, his loving children; Linda Painter-Hoffman (Robert) of Lockport, NY, Diane Preston(Michael) of Lockport and Brian Painter(Gina) of Scotia, his cherished grandchildren; Michelle Nolan, Lindsay Preston, Austin Lee, Aaron Preston, Giuliana Painter and Nicholas Painter , his 2 great grandchildren; Connor and Parker Nolan and one brother Richard Painter of Long Island.

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held private at the convenience of the family at the Mausoleum Chapel at Schenectady Memorial Park.

Entombment will be in Schenectady Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Contributions can be made in Donald’s memory to the charity of one’s choice
