Obituary for Luis Albert Rivas
Luis A. “Albert “ Rivas, age 72, of Janesville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born March 2, 1945, in Durango, CO, the son of the late Ernest & Amanda (Stollsteimer) Rivas. He worked for many years as a mill worker in the logging industry in Colorado. On February 3, 2001, he married the former Claire V. Garcia in Pagosa Springs, CO. Albert enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with his family and friends. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, Claire; his children: Genevieve Rivas, Louie (Christina) Rivas, Ernie (Ruby) Rivas, Daniel (Antonette) Rivas; his siblings: LaLa (Jim) Willingham, Sharon Wilson, Ernest (Lisa) Rivas, Fred (Pauline) Rivas, and Bobby (Wanda) Rivas; his step-children: Jimmy Caban, Cathy (Steven) Treat, Marty Caban, Melinda Dupree, and Carlos Caban; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Fr. Joseph Baker officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the FUNERAL HOME.
