Condolence From: Robert Melson
Condolence: I noticed Gene's death notice in the Eau Claire (WI) paper. He was one of my favorite teachers at Barron High School. I remember him as a very highly respected teacher, very articulate, and extremely passionate about his teaching. Along with many of my classmates, I we often wondered where he was in later years and what he was doing. The wonderful obituary answered many of those questions. As a former teacher myself, I had a great deal of respect for Gene and feel very fortunate to have known him.

Condolence: Peggy and family: It was truly an honor for us to have conversations with you and Gene for all the years we have been in Scoial Science. We truly enjoyed the programs you presented, especially the joint one you two did with your point and counterpoint. And who could forget Gene's various "Social Science History" reports that Gene so painstakingly and lovingly researched and prepared. Gene was a giant who will be missed. Our deepest condolences are extended, and we trust that God will wrap His special hands around you and hold you during these times as you celebrate and remember Gene's life.

Condolence From: Mary Seager Adams
Condolence: Dear Peggy and family,
My heart goes out to all of you at Gene's passing. I have truly fond memories of him, both as a professor during my undergraduate studies and later as a fellow Friend of the UNC Libraries. He will be missed in ever so many capacities, but most dearly, I suspect, as husband, father, and grandfather. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
God's peace,
Mary Seager Adams
