Obituary for Thomas C. Lovgren

Thomas C.  Lovgren
Thomas C. Lovgren, age 85 of Monmouth Beach, died on September 5, 2017 at Atlantic Care Regional Trauma Center in Atlantic City surrounded by his loving family. Born in Long Branch and raised in Sea Bright, Tom raised his family in Oakhurst before moving to Monmouth Beach while spending his winters in Fort Meyers, Florida. He started his career as an electrician for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from New Jersey Transit after 40 years. Tom was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch and a member of the Long Branch Old Guard and Willowbrook Golf Club. He served our Country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elvira Lovgren in 2006 and his daughter, Lori Messer in January. Surviving are his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and Laura Lovgren of Monmouth Beach; Kevin H. and Donna Lovgren of Freehold; his son-in-law, Joseph Messer of Pt. Pleasant Beach; his sister, Betty Justus of Oceanport and 5 grandchildren, Erik, Cody, Christopher, Annie and Dylan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8 from 4 – 8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. in Long Branch. Funeral Saturday; 9 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at Precious Blood Church in Monmouth Beach. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport.
