Testimonials

My son passed away and I had his funeral at Forest Lawn in Greenwood. The entire process from start to finish was outstanding. Although my son's passing was tragic and sad, the service was a great honor for my son's memory. The funeral director, Missy, was great during the entire process. She cared about every detail. I never met her before I made the arrangements, but I felt as if she was an old friend that cared about me and my family. Another member of the funeral home staff, Kurt, was also very caring. The pastor over the service, Danny Thomas, was incredible. His words were inspiring to all and he honored my son in a way my family and friends will never forget.

Greg Norris

The staff at Forest Lawn was so compassionate and caring to my family with the death of my Mother. Doug and Missy went above and beyond what I have ever experienced with any other funeral home. Every detail and need was taken care so timely and lovingly. Thank you for being such a blessing to my family.

Susan Hobson

The staff at Forest Lawn went above and beyond, what we could have ever expected. They were very professional and so sympathetic to all of our needs. We would definitely recommend Forest Lawn!

Thomas Stinnett

I can't put into words the compassionate Melisa.Rump showed my family. She listened to every detail that we wanted for my Mother's Service. I can honestly say this is definitely Melisa's calling and I am so thankful the support she showed my family during this very difficult time.

Stacey Camacho

My family and I had good experience with Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The staff was compassionate, patient and supportive throughout the whole process even when we were indecisive. I never felt like we were being persuaded to buy anything we did not want. I do think the grounds need some TLC like the roads. Missy and Matt were informative and service oriented throughout an overwhelming process. I thank them for helping my family through a difficult time. Considering the circumstances, the overall service far exceeded my expectations.

I can not say enough about Amber and Jerry! If it were not for them, I am not sure my family would have made it through this devastating time. They were very compassionate and brought a true calmness to my family. They were accommodating and did everything they could do to ensure that my mom had the most perfect send off to heaven! Thank you Amber and Jerry

Obituary for Kenneth James LaLiberte

Kenneth James LaLiberte
LALIBERTE, Kenneth James, age 76, of Greenwood, IN passed away on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017. He grew up in Woodstock, CT where he spent his summers milking cows, bailing hay, and perfecting the archery skills of 4H children. At an early age, Ken was drawn to a family member's piano, and with no previous training, began to play a song. He later pursued piano lessons and was a self-taught guitarist and organist. Ken was well-known for his amazing Elvis impersonation and mastery of "Rock 'n' Roll style" dancing. He graduated Valedictorian from Marianapolis Preparatory school in Thompson, CT in 1958 and was a participating thespian and singer. In 1962, he received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Worchester Polytechnic Institute where he was an active member in the ROTC. He then continued his education at Boston University, receiving an MBA in 1964. While attending BU, he worked as an RA of a campus residence hall and spent his weekends performing at school dances as lead guitarist in his Rock 'n' Roll band. He even built his own amplification system for his Fender Stratocaster.

His professional career began at Eastman Kodak as an expert in silver retrieval from film and was heavily involved in Product Planning. His charismatic charm finally landed him a position in direct sales, where he was the recipient of countless awards and recognitions. Upon retirement, Ken began his second career staying home full-time with his children. During this time, he volunteered at school, embarrassingly serenaded his children (guitar and all) when they came home, became the personal show choir videographer, guest taught Algebra in the talented and gifted class, stood in as a "dance mom", and played Santa at the elementary school. He even made a Santa "house-call" to a student who was battling cancer.

Ken had a contagious laugh, larger-than-life personality that could entertain a crowd, endless supply of hugs, gift for teaching, ability to make anyone feel like part of the family, and a habit of befriending strangers that we later joked were coming for Thanksgiving. His unique interests included building his own TV and computer, learning C++ programing, watching every single episode of Bob Newhart, acquiring random trivia facts in case he was ever on a quiz show, channeling his inner Bob Vila with handiwork around the house, laughing hysterically at America's Funniest Home Videos, completing the daily crossword and jumble, perfecting the perfect cup of coffee and, most-importantly, spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved them dearly.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marian (Dooling) LaLiberte. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Linda (Argabrite) LaLiberte; daughter, Kendra Jones; son, Brian (Dawn) LaLiberte; son, David (Trish) LaLiberte; daughter, Lauren (Doug) Ford; daughter, Kara (Matthew) Levy; sister, Joan (Steven) Snyder; and 10 beautiful grandchildren. A private Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date. Contributions may be made in Kenneth's name to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 N. Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268 or online at www.indyhumane.org
