Obituary for Linda Helms Pruitt
Linda Helms Pruitt, 69, left her worldly body on September 12, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Born and raised in Swifton, AR, she moved to Jonesboro to attend college. She started a big life becoming a wife, a beloved co-worker, a mom, and eventually a “Granny”. Throughout her journey she remained a devout Christian, a dependable friend (with advice that you needed even if you didn’t want to hear it). Linda was a devoted daughter and a strong, brave and beautiful mom and Granny. She told terrible jokes and wonderful stories. Her memory showed her intelligence as she could quote family history and detailed events from the past. She spent many happy times being with friends, cooking, trout fishing and reading. We all knew that her favorite time was spent just being with family.
She’s having a grand Homecoming as she was preceded in death by her grandparents; father, Clifton Talmage Helms; brother, Aubrey “Buddy” Helms; sister Sharon Kay Helms and many other special friends and relatives.
She is survived by her mother, Irene (Wheeler) Helms; two daughters, Shanna Kennedy and husband, Dan, Staci Grissom and husband, Todd; two granddaughters, Jessica Jennings and Mikayla Jennings; two grandsons, Brody Grissom and Jude Grissom; and one great-grandson Jayden Shepherd. In her parting words of advice to all of us she told us to “follow God and be good to EVERYBODY.” Mom can rest easy knowing we’re going to use everything she taught us. We’ll see you soon.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman, AR. Her honorary pallbearers will be all of the single parents who make a tough job look easy while raising good Christian families. In lieu of flowers, she asks that you take a bag of dog food to your local pet shelter, go visit her mama or do a good deed to make someone’s day.
