Catherine Fitch Druitt (Fitch)
Catherine Mercer Fitch Druitt; (b. Jan 24th, 1932) wife, mother, teacher, writer, concert violinist, polyglot, and poet, passed away peacefully on Sept 14th, 2017. She was surrounded by music and love in her final hours. She is survived by her daughter Liz and her two sons David and John, as well as five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She travelled the world, living in foreign locales such as Venezuela, Cameroon, Turkey, Bolivia, Indonesia, Algeria, Morocco, and Arizona. Speaking French, Spanish, Indonesian, and some Arabic, she made friends wherever she landed, teaching in schools, establishing bible studies, playing in violin quartets, and winning bridge games. She published her book “What Makes a Rose a Poem?” shortly before her death. She will be laid to rest in Smiths Grove Cemetery, KY next to her husband Charles Edward. Family and friends across each community she touched miss her and love her. Memorial Service will be held 1:00 pm Friday Sept. 22nd at Riderwood Chapel, Village Square, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
