Life Story for Richard V. Wilson, Sr.

Richard Valentine Wilson Sr. of Beacon, NY (formerly of Lake Katonah) died on September 21, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY. Richard was born on December 12, 1934 in Riverdale, NY, and was raised there. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp, and served from 1953-1961 on the U.S.S. Valley Forge CV-45.

He was a loving husband to Mary Joan (Higgins) who previously passed away in 1997. He was a loving father to a son, Richard V. Wilson, Jr. of Beacon, NY, and a daughter, Suzanne of Cary, NC. He is survived by three sisters, Carol, of Fishkill, New York, Valerie of Falmouth, Maine, and Donna of Tucson, Arizona.
After going to photography school, he began his career working for Loral Advertising in Yonkers, NY. He then went on to run his own advertising company, RV Wilson Advertising, with his wife. He was a real estate photographer, and designed/printed brochures. He retired from the post office in 1998. He met his wife in Rehoboth Beach Delaware, and they spent many summer vacations there with their children, and wife’s family. He also took his family to Camden, Maine every year to spend time with his parents, Valentine, and Mildred. He enjoyed antique cars, and reading about military history. Richard also enjoyed nature, and taking care of animals. He often fed the deer, birds, and other small animals that would visit his lake view house.
