Aaron James Timmerman, left the world the way he lived in it, fervently pursuing one of his life’s many passions, scuba diving in Lake Superior. He died on Sept. 23, 2017 at the age of 42.
Aaron was born on June 19, 1975, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. As a kid, he lived in Michigan and Guam, before moving to Spring Lake Park, Minn., where he graduated from high school. He attended college and began his career in the Twin Cities. As the biggest extrovert in the geek community, Aaron used his entrepreneurial spirit to develop his own company, Tech80.
He had an unending curiosity about the world and the people in it. It gave him a long list of passions that included flying, woodturning, skydiving, playing Dungeons & Dragons, playing computer games, hunting, scuba diving, the Green Bay Packers and the Renaissance Festival, just to name a few. It also gave him countless friends to whom he was fiercely loyal.
In 2011, Aaron met Jessie (Ehreth). By all accounts, he knew immediately that she was the love of his life. They married in 2013 and spent their years together finding adventures big and small. Of all his accomplishments, being a father to Conor and having a bonus daughter, Ilee, were among his proudest. Aaron believed that the more people gave to the world, the more they’d get back in return. He gave his all to every minute of every day. He filled any room he entered with his smile and his laughter. The twinkle in his eye let the world know he was up for whatever fun or mischief lay ahead.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; son, Conor; bonus daughter, Ilee; sister, Sarah (Don) Timmerman Walentiny (Dominic and Ashton Shirley and Anna and Leo Walentiny); mother, Pam Vail; beloved aunt and uncle, Maureen (Timmerman) and Ken Hensley; his dear grandmother, Angie Timmerman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Major James Timmerman (retired Air Force); grandfather, Leo Timmerman; grandfather, Christopher Vail; grandmother, Regina Vail.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, at Valley Community Presbyterian Church, 3100 Lilac Dr., Golden Valley, Minn., at 2 p.m. Visitation with video memories will be held an hour before the celebration. After church, a brief burial ceremony will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. At Aaron’s request, people should come with great stories and lots of laughter.
