James Reggie Felker a resident of Clinton, died on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in an automobile accident. He was 66 years old and a retired Assistant Warden at DCI.
Reggie had numerous certifications including Firearms and Defensive Tactics, he was an EMT and one of the original members of DCI Tact Team. He had a passion for hunting and fishing which was superseded by the love of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Denise Doughty Felker; three children; Benjamin D Felker and wife Brandi, Vicky Richter and husband Todd, Dustin Benzer and wife Lizzie, brother, Richard Felker, sister, Joy Havard, brother Darryle Felker, brother Mike Felker, sister, Melinda Collette; grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Felker, Jackson D Felker, Barrett Barron, James Christian Richter, McKennon Cole Richter, Gage Holden Richter, Scout Layne Benzer and Mills Katherine Benzer and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends William Pittman, Wendall Day, Doc Holliday, Bo Guillot, Harold and Lola Powers, Tommy Rabalais and lots of former co-workers at DCI and BREC.
He is preceded in death by his parents John D and Laura Belle Felker, brother, Larry Felker and nephew Kaleb Collette.
Visitation is Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 1:00pm until service at 5:00pm at New Zion Baptist Church, 3841 Hwy 38, Kentwood, LA, conducted by Rev. Joe Day. Burial to follow at Old Day Cemetery, Hwy 441 North, Easleyville, LA.
Pallbearers will be Mike Felker, John Chase, James Richter, Dakota Collette, Randy McKnight, Travis Rabalais, John T. Chase, Andrew Chase and Mike Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Jackson Felker, McKennon Richter and Gage Richter.
