Marcia Anne (Connors) Carman passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Saint Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, MA after a period of declining health; she was 79 years old. Marcia was the wife of the Richard Wellesley Carman who passed away in 2007.
Marcia was born October 11, 1937 in Boston, MA, a daughter to the late Edward J. and Rosella E. (Adams) Connors. She was a former resident of Foxboro and Attleboro, MA.
Marcia earned her BS in Health and Physical Science at State Teachers College, Bridgewater prior to earning a MS in Physical Education from University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT. Marcia was a longtime physical education teacher at King Phillip in Wrentham as well as an accomplished and respected multi-sport coach.
Marcia was named all-star coach for the gymnastic teams in 1963 and 1964. The Massachusetts Gymnastics Congress awarded her a plaque in 1978 for her outstanding contributions to the sport of gymnastics. A proud moment for Marcia was her induction into the King Phillip High School Hall of Fame in 2007.
For two years Marcia also served as a Physical Education Assistant at Skidmore College in Saratoga NY. In her spare time Marcia enjoyed golfing, tennis and improving her talent as an artist. She especially enjoyed riding her bike along the Cape Cod Canal. She also liked candlepin bowling, winning the Ladies Bowling Championship in 1969. Her greatest loves were caring for her beagles, Barney and Gus.
Marcia leaves one brother, Robert E. Connors and his wife, Ellie of Peabody as well as many nephews and nieces. Her siblings, Edward J. Connors, Donald L. Connors, Richard Connors and Rosemary C. Malloy preceded her in death.
All services are private. Marcia will be laid to rest alongside Richard at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
