Obituary for Mary Evelyn Gray

Mrs. Mary E. Gray, Age 95 years, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away, Friday September 29, 2017 in Hot Springs Village.

Mary was born on December 29, 1921 in Springfield, Mo. a daughter of the late John A. and Marion (McElvaney) Allbright. She was married on February 19, 1947 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Johnny F. Gray who preceded her in death on May 25, 2005.

Mary graduated from Thayer High School in Thayer, Mo. and had been a resident of central Missouri for over 50 years.

A homemaker, Mary Evelyn enjoyed staying home to raise the children. She was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening with her flowers and she was an avid reader. She traveled much of the country with her husband, and on bus trips with friends from Lee Street and Nelson Drive. But most importantly she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and being a loving grandmother to Alan.

Survivors include: one son, Larry W. Gray of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Linda A. Tetley and her husband Murphy and Sandra L. Jannick both of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; one grandchild, Alan M. Tetley and his wife Megan of Redwood City, California; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Wyatt Tetley.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Johnny; her sister Virginia Brown; and a son-in-law, David Jannick.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend John Kerr officiating. Graveside services will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
