Clinton-Ruth E. (Gauld) Kamataris, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Oakdale Rehabilitation Center in West Boylston. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Peter T. Kamataris. She is survived by her children, Karen J. Sutherland & husband William of Lake Mary, FL; and William P. Kamataris & Helena Silva of Clinton; 3 grandchildren and their spouses, John Sutherland & Kelly of Rumford, RI; Lauren Grover & Brian of Hudson; and Alyson Ruscetti & Marcus of New York, NY; 2 great-grandchildren Lydia and Edgar Grover. She leaves her brother William J. Gauld & wife Julia of Sterling; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Kamataris of East Falmouth, and Lorraine Kamataris of Leominster; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is pre-deceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Rogers and Phyllis Wentworth.
Ruth was born in Lynn to the late William & Elizabeth (Auld) Gauld. She was raised in Sterling, graduated from Leominster High School, Class of 1949 and obtained her professional degree from Salter Secretarial School in 1951. In addition to dedicating herself to raising her family, Ruth was employed for nearly 40 years with the accounting firm Farragher & Hennebry, formerly Gibbons Associates, in Clinton. She was a woman of great faith, a member of the Philoptochos Society, former Sunday School teacher and devout parishioner of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Clinton. Ruth was an active member of her community and served as a former Trustee for the Bigelow Free Public Library in Clinton, she was a long time member of the Clinton Parks & Recreation Christmas Concert Committee, which she often chaired, and a friend of the Thayer Symphony Orchestra. She loved to travel and take her twice daily walks through Clinton’s Central Park. Ruth most enjoyed time in the company of her family and will be forever remembered as a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday, October 6, 2017 in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 123 School St., Clinton, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7PM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
