Obituary for Mary Nash (Leazer)

Mrs. Mary Leazer -Nash, 63, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her residence.

Born March 24, 1954 in Rowan County, to the late Roy R. Leazer, Sr. and Mary Louise Gilchrist Leazer.

She was educated in the public schools of Rowan County and was a 1972 graduate of Salisbury High
School. She was a 1976 graduate of UNC- Chapel Hill, where she received her BS Degree in Business
Administration. She was last employed as a Information Technologist and Educator.

Although she had been away from Salisbury for a very long time, her roots were in the Salisbury area. She grew up in Moores Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. church, Ann Arbor, MI. Upon returning to Salisbury she became heavily involved in community activities. She was involved in the West End initiative and had assumed the chairmanship of the housing subcommittee. She traveled to Birmingham with a Salisbury group to learn and study the "Purpose Built" concept, participated and successfully completed the Salisbury Citizen's Academy from the City of Salisbury on November 2016.

A active member of the West End Coalition involving Livingstone College and the West End community, also served as an ambassador for the city community action plan, where she was was heavily involved in the workforce development focus area. She volunteered at the J.C. Price American Legion Post 107 on a consultative basis by providing computer and technical assistance to enhance the functioning of the post. She was very proficient in literature, fashion, Bible and her chosen profession of computer installation and computer education. Many of her hobbies included cooking, horticulture and dancing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Nash.

She leaves precious and loving memories to her brother, Roy R. Leazer, Jr..(Chi-Chi), Salisbury; special cousin, Commander Mae Carroll, Salisbury; aunts, Jan Johnson (Micheal), Springdale, MD., Mary Ruth Houston, Annie Marie Pruitt both of Salisbury, Priscilla Leazer, Lumberton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
