Obituary for Doritt N Linsk

Doritt Linsk, Age 95, of Atlantic City passed away on October 5, 2017 after a long illness. She was at home surrounded by family. She was born in Philadelphia on June 23, 1922, the daughter of William and Rose Newman. She attended Atlantic City High School where she met the love of her life Joseph Linsk at age 15. They had been together for 80 years and married for 69 years. She is survived by her husband, her four children, Heidi Wittels (Robert Greenstein), Cathy, Alex, (Tetje) and Richard (Dorett Ben Ami), her grandchildren Kate (Ira Fertig) and William Wittels, Noah and Benjamin Linsk, and Samantha and Isaac Linsk and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Maya Fertig. She also was devoted to her nieces and nephews Leigh and Leslie Levin, Jane, Paul, Danial, and Jon Shapiro and their children, Shaw Levin (Sarah), Fielding Miller, Nick Shapiro, and Morgan and Allison O’Connor. She was a devoted, mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. The Linsk household was always welcoming with many friends and visitors. She was active in the community, often helping out those in need. She cared for her nieces and nephews after the untimely passing of their mothers, Ruth Newman Shapiro and Sheila Newman Levin. She helped turn their deaths into the Ruth Newman Shapiro Foundation, dedicated to improving the care of residents of Atlantic County with cancer and heart disease. She traveled with her husband and family extensively, even living in Sweden for 8 months which she loved. Her favorite trips, however, were to Canada where they went fishing with friends for many years. She also loved gardening and attending the ballet. But her most important joy and devotion was her family. She greatly appreciated the care and devotion provided her over the last 3 years by her caregivers, Rachel, Lydia, Christine, Annette and Colleen. The family thanks Eleanor of Holy Redeemer Hospice. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 8th, at 11am, at Roth-Goldsteins’ Memorial Chapel, New Hampshire and Pacific Avenues, Atlantic City. The family wishes contributions in her memory be sent to The Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer and Heart Fund at www.rnscancerandheartfund.org
