The world lost a very special man. A man with a true servant's heart. One who would take care of others often neglecting himself. My first memory of him was at school. We used to sit outside on the wall in front of the school. All of us kids. He came riding up on his motorcycle. A priest on a motorcycle. Now to 6 yr old me that was one of the coolest things ever!! Now this wasn't even a fancy motorcycle. It was pieced together. He worked on it himself to save money and to not bother anyone else. It was different colors from his work. But he knew that if he could do something himself he should. He became a part of our family. He was there for my first reconciliation, first communion, confirmation, funeral of those I loved (especially my grandpa and son), all of our celebrations and holidays, and even a part of my wedding. He baptized my oldest. My middle son has the same middle name as him. I can only hope and pray that my son's can be half the man he was. I can pray that maybe one of them will follow his footsteps and be a priest. I can only hope that they can help add good to the world the way he did. Fr. Theodore Xavier Pieper you will be missed. You were a blessing and we were lucky for you to be a part of our family for as long as you were. You were a truly remarkable man. Until we see you again, rest in peace Fr. Ted.
