Beatrice “Bea” (Pyle) Felsheim passed away on October 23, 2017 at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor, NJ. Born on December 3, 1921 in LaPorte, IN, she was raised in Newton, IA. Although deaf from birth, Bea never thought of herself as handicapped, nor did she let it either define her or hold her back. After attending the University of Iowa, Bea moved to Newton, NJ to take a job at the local phone company and strike out on her own. It was there that she met and married her husband, Chris Felsheim, in 1950. Together, they pursued a lifelong shared passion for travel.
Bea was an avid reader. One of her favorite subjects was Abraham Lincoln whose life and wisdom she found inspirational. Over the years, she collected an extensive library of books about him. She was also a collector of small lighthouse replicas which at one time totaled more than 125, many of which she had visited in person in her travels. She also collected postcards from around the world, a way of reminding her of where she had visited as well as opening the door to places not yet explored.
Bea is survived by her sister Jane Cammack; daughter Anne Aronovitch (Richard Eger); son Martin Felsheim (Tamara); grandchildren Heather Pursell (Tom), Krystyn McAllister (Donald), Jayna Aronovitch, Jenna Felsheim, Daniel Felsheim, and Michael Salvatore; great-grandchild Caioilainn Pursell; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Chris Felsheim, and by her son, David Felsheim.
The family extends its deepest thanks to the staff of Meadow Lakes for their kindness and compassion in caring for Bea.
A celebration of Bea’s life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Ave., Ewing, NJ 08638. A calling hour will be held that morning for friends and family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Ewing Church Cemetery, 100 Scotch Rd., Ewing, NJ.
