Obituary for Ricky Buford

Ricky Buford
Mr. Ricky Buford of Remmel Community, Newport, departed this life on Monday, October 30, 2017. He was born May 9, 1949, at Remmel, the son of George Henry “Skinnie” Buford and Vera Kathryn (Looney) Buford.
Ricky was a member of the Newport High School graduating Class of 1967. In his younger years, he loved to play softball and coon hunt.
On July 3, 1976, he and Miss Kathy Honey were married at his parent’s home in Remmel. Together they raised three children, enjoyed ten grandchildren, and were loved members of their community and the church for just over 41 years.
Ricky was a self-employed farmer at Buford Farms. He grew up on a farm, and loved farming. To him, farming was never a job; it was a way of life.
Ricky was selfless, with an unconditional love for his family and a deep love for God. He genuinely loved the study of God’s word, and was a knowledgeable and curious student of the Bible. Ricky was especially well versed in the book of Revelations. He was a devoted member of the Remmel Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday night class for several years.
This good and Godly man will forever be remembered for his diligent work ethic, his devotion and love of the Lord and His church, and his great love of family.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Darlene Stokes.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy (Honey) Buford of the home; two sons, Sean Buford and wife, Tonya of Remmel, and Sonny Buford and wife, Jamie, of Remmel; one daughter, Krystal Worthington and husband, Lynn, of Remmel; ten grandchildren, Macayle Pierce, Breann Buford, Harlee Buford, Nadea Buford, Haylie Worthington, Jaxson Worthington, Case Buford, David Holdsclaw, Brady Cook, and Averee Worthington; special nephews, Jeremy and Josh Stokes; a host of family, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, November 2, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Remmel Church of Christ, with Dr. Lou Butterfield, Mr. David Bowman, and Judge Jeff Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Remmel-McCall Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Dean Miller, Joey Don Huey, Jeremy Stokes, Josh Stokes, Phillip Addington, and Jeff Phillips.
