Effie L  Smith
SMITH (Roberts) Effie Lenda – age 87 of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully on October 31, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Lark Harbour NFLD she was a daughter to the late Joseph and Pricilla (Childs) Roberts. Effie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and avid volunteer in the community with over 50 years of volunteer work with Al-Anon. She worked for IMO foods for 7 years and also was a councillor at addiction services. In her spare time she loved flowers and was known to be a great cook. She is survived by her children, Arthur “Terrance” (Lexine) Pearce, NFLD; Archibald James Pearce, Carleton Yarmouth Co; John Fraser (Brenda) Pearce, Yarmouth; Hector Merrill (Dale) Pearce, Yarmouth; special niece, Jesse in Syndey Mines; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was a the last surviving member of her immediate family and besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Hector Pearce; second husband, Henry Smith; sisters, Mary-Anne and Beatrice; brothers, Gordon, James, Harold, George, Arthur, and John in infancy; as a well as her daughter, Nina Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweenys Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday November 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Holy Trinity Anglican Church with Father Douglas Chard officiating. Interment will follow in Chebogue Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall. Flowers are welcome and donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetic Foundation .
