Life Story for Bennie A. Ford

Bennie A.  Ford
Bennie A. Ford, age 84, of Manchester, Tennessee, formerly of Jefferson County, Indiana and Trimble County, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at National Healthcare-Tullahoma in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He was born November 14, 1932 in Trimble County, the son of the Ben C. and Ruby M. Coons Ford.

Mr. Ford graduated from Trimble County High School. Following high school, he served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and then for eight years in the United States Air Force. While in high school, he worked for the former Sample’s Ice Cream Company in Madison, and following his military service, he tested ammunition for the United States Army at the former Jefferson Proving Ground in Madison.

Mr. Ford enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. He was a member of the Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church, Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.

He will be missed by one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Mark Johnson of Cookeville; two sons: Rick Ford and Terry Ford and his wife, Pat, all of Madison; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley L. and Bernie Ginn of Milton, and Nancy and Charlie Suell of Louisville, Kentucky; one granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Jon Sims of Greenfield, Indiana; and two great grandchildren: Grant and Anne Marie DeKeyser, both of Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, the former Dixie Smith on June 27, 2016, and to whom he was married for sixty-four years.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 AM CST Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Manchester Funeral Home, 214 East Main Street, Manchester, Tennessee.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made at any Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
