The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Roger Carlson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary

The light of our family is dimmer today after losing our beloved brother and friend. Roger Alan Carlson passed away on Thursday, with his family by his side.  Roger was born in Michigan to Bob and Jean Carlson on August 20, 1960.  His family moved to El Cajon when he was 12 years old.  Roger attended Grossmont High School and graduated in 1978.

Roger was a very loving brother, uncle, son and friend. He adored his nephew and nieces.  He loved fishing, golfing and his family. He was smart, witty, charismatic and had a very big heart!  Roger was never afraid to call the world out as it was- he was a straight shooter until the end.  He was a lover of the world of sports… and what you saw, was what you got, with him.

He is survived by his father Robert Carlson, step-mother Bette, his brother Scott, sister-in-law Mary,  and two sisters Judy Moellering and Micki Carlson. He is also survived by his nephew Brandon, his nieces, Brittany, Amanda and Cassidy, his great nephew Emerson and his loving aunts and cousins. Roger was proceeded in death by his Mother, Jean Carlson.

Rest In Peace, Roger. You were one of a kind- strong wit, sarcastic, and always called them as you saw them. You were the most honest human being we’ve ever had the pleasure to know.

...Above all, an incredible heart and soul. Words cannot describe how much you meant to us. You will be forever in our hearts and will be loved and missed every single day!
