Marion Clay  Smith
Marion Clay Smith, 78, of Petersburg, and formerly of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Clay, Sr. and Flora Hart Clay, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph W. Clay, Jr.; and sister, Joan Annette Beverly. Marion was an active member of Monumental Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Richard Smith; son, Louis C. Smith and wife, Sherrie T.; grandson, Justin C. Smith; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Monumental Baptist Church, 2925 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805, with Pastor Duane Guridy officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday night, November 13, 2017 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.
