A Memorial celebrant for James David McCraney, 89, who went to be with our Lord on Novemeber 11, 2017, will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave. Holly Hill with Rev. Joe Putting, pastor of the Tomoka Christian Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 1590. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. A native of Palatka, James and his family moved here when he was a small child. He was a member and grew up in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Ormond Beach. James was a wonderful carpenter, who loved building things. He had a passion for helping others and was an advocate for the poor and needy children. A lover of nature, he also loved animals. James served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 – 1951. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made in James memory to Halifax Health Hospice. Survivors include 2 daughters,
Bonnie McCraney and Brenda McCraney Fiore; 4 sons, Jimmy McCraney, James McCraney, Joseph McCraney and Gary Rawlins; 4 sisters, Pat, Lillian, Judy and Evelyn; 3 brothers, Robert, Joe and Marshall; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family wants to express our love and thanks to our uncle Joe, aunt Clara and Ricky for staying by Dad’s bedside throughout his stay at the hospital and hospice.
