Obituary for Paul Papranec

Paul Papranec
PAPRANEC, PAUL ROBERT - age 79, of Grand Rapids, went to share heaven with our Lord and Savior, on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Paul was born to Slovakian immigrants, Amalia and Josef Papranec in 1938 the youngest of three sons. At ninth grade he attended Lansing Resurrection High School, and then returned to Charlotte High School. He enjoyed sports and mathematics and later played semi pro football. Paul was a United States Army Veteran. He graduated from Western Michigan University and became a teacher. Paul began his teaching and coaching career at Comstock Public Schools, and later at Kenowa Hills Public Schools. He farmed in Parnell, Michigan and later purchased the “Ovid Farm” near Lansing. “The Farm” also hosted many hunting days for family and friends. He was a true steward of the land. Paul was an active parent and grandparent. Concerts, plays, performances, 4-H events, horse shows, wrestling matches, baseball, football and hockey games all kept him very busy. The life skills he taught, accompanied with his art of conversation, are cherished by all. Paul lived and emulated the life he was born into, one of humility and hard work, love and caring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Amalia Papranec; brother, Joseph; son-in-law, David Janisch; and in-laws, Frank Evans and Hilda Streight. Paul is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianne; children, Robin (Bill) Seniura, Amy Papranec, Paul E. (Diane) Papranec, Polly Janisch and Mike Papranec; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and special care giver, Jacqueline Cunningham. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
