Obituary for Elizabeth C Fulton

Elizabeth (Betty) Fulton, 96, of Missoula, passed away from natural causes, Wednesday, November 16, 2017, at the Village Health Care Center.



Mary Elizabeth Coll was born on May 30. 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Kathryn Coll. She met her future husband, Dr. John F. Fulton at a TB clinic in 1945. They were married on April 20, 1946. They moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 1949 where John finished his residency. They left Michigan in 1952 and relocated to Missoula with a 5 year old daughter (Kitty) and an infant son (Johnny). A second son (Jimmy) was born in 1956.


John and Betty moved to Richland, WA in the late 70's. When John retired in 1985, they returned to Missoula and spent their summers at Placid Lake.


Betty was a consummate garage sale explorer. Not only as a shopper, but also as an organizer. She was a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church and was very active even in her 90's with church functions.


Charitable groups that she was involved with included Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, The Western Montana Medical Auxiliary, Red Cross Blood Bank, 30+ years as a volunteer at the Missoula County Public Library, home room mother, Martha Ministries and 20+ years in PEO.


Activities included various bridge clubs, the Lynnwood Condominium luncheons, knitting hats & mittens for donation through Martha Ministries, needle point, crossword puzzles and playing cribbage. Most of all she was a devoted wife and loving mother.


She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Fulton M.D. and daughter Kathryn M. Fulton (Kitty)


Survivors include son John Fulton Jr. (Sherry), Seeley Lake, son James Fulton (Carol), Missoula, grand children Elizabeth Parris (Matt), Clinton, Andrew Yuhas (Elizabeth), Missoula, Mindee Fulton, Poulsbo, WA, John Fulton, Seattle, WA, three great grand children and many nephews and nieces, including Sherry Marsillo (Lino), Missoula.


Special thanks to the staff at The Village Health Care Center for their wonderful care during her last months.


Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 130 South 6th Street East, Missoula, MT.


In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent to the Human Society of Western Montana or the Missoula Food Bank.
