Carolyn Faye (Kaye) Odegard-Tanner
76, of Hackett’s Cove and Halifax passed away on Monday November 20, 2017 in palliative care, Victoria Building, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the Jens and Patricia (Heighton/Connolly) Odegard of Glen Haven, NS. She was a devoted mother who was posted to Germany, British Columbia and Ottawa with her late husband, Master Warrant Officer, Ernest V. Tanner. She was employed with Postal Communications, Ottawa, Inventory Control VG, Halifax, but was best known for her talents as a hairstylist at Emiles Salon and Head Quarters, Halifax and Village Hairstyling, Tantallon. Carolyn loved to travel and enjoyed visits to St. Martaan’s, Cuba, Mexico and Dominican Republic. Her favorite destination was Norway to visit her relatives. She was a member of the St. Margaret’s Bay White Caps. Carolyn is survived by her son, Bruce Tanner (Sharyn Chaulk); daughter, Gail Bekker (David Jones); granddaughters, Jennifer and Ashley Tanner; great granddaughter, Ellie Tanner; brothers, Carl Odegard, Wallace Lake; Donald (Eleanor) Odegard, Glen Haven, many nieces and nephews and family friend Kathy Boutilier. She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Larsen. In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes there will be no funeral services.
