Obituary for John J. "Jack" Dempsey

John “Jack” J. Dempsey 48 of Effort died on Saturday Nov. 18, 2017 in the St. Luke’s Hospice Bethlehem, Pa. He was the husband of Laura (Milne) Duffy Dempsey. Born in East Stroudsburg he was the son of Leonard and Mary Louise (Mackrell) Dempsey.

Jack was a resident of Effort for the past 2 years and prior to that he was a lifelong resident of the East Stroudsburg area. He had a self-employed on line sports merchandise business for many years and he was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

In addition to his parents and wife he is survived 2 sons Leo John and Jack Ryan Dempsey, a step son Anthony Charles Duffy all of E. Stroudsburg, Pa. 2 brothers: Patrick Dempsey of E. Stroudsburg and Michael Dempsey of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sisters: Kerry Weston and her husband Greg of Palm Coast, Fl. and Kathy Dempsey of E. Stroudsburg, his mother in law Linda Donnelly of North Ft. Meyers, Fl. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister Kelly Dempsey.

A Catholic Prayer service will be held on Friday Nov. 24, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa. The family will receive friends from 12:00Noon until the time of the services at the funeral home.
