Obituary for Edelle Shannon
Edelle Shannon passed peacefully on November 21, 2017, in the loving presence of her husband and daughter at Highgate Senior Living in Billings, MT.
Edelle was born on July 30, 1928 to Angus and Ella (Donner) Christianson, spending her childhood on the family farm in New England, ND. In spite of the difficulties her family endured, her memories were those of happiness and love, never hardship.
She met the love of her life, James Shannon in Billings, MT. They married on December 31, 1948 and their daughters, Sharon and Shirley, soon followed. Faithfully supporting her husband’s career, she skillfully managed many transfers over the next twenty one years.
Hand-in-hand, they later owned and operated tire centers in California and Montana, still moving but living their dream. They retired early and spent many happy years in Arizona and later at Mission Ridge Retirement Community in Billings.
She was a long-time member of Atonement Lutheran Church and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She placed great priority on her family, infusing them with precious time, loyalty, and immeasurable love. Edelle encountered many hurdles in her time, but she faced each with a quiet faith and fortitude. She was a special lady and will be deeply missed.
Preceding her are her beloved daughter Shirley; all five siblings: Floyd, Delores, Ardyce, Orin and Glen; brother-in-law Earl Jalbert; sister-in-law Carrie Christianson; and niece Charmaine Shannon Burns.
She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Sharon Shannon, son-in-law Keyth Koppinger; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry Kostelecky (Ardyce), Helen Christianson (Orin), Geraldine Christianson (Glen), Jack and Donna Shannon, Jerry Shannon and Judy Frink; and many nieces and nephews.
We are grateful for the care Mom received this past year and extend our thanks to Highgate Senior Living, Wyndstone Novak Cottage, and Compassus Hospice.
