Obituary for Jeffrey Allen Hammersmith

DOUGLAS, Mich. — Jeffery A. Hammersmith, 61, Douglas, Mich., passed away November 25, 2017, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
He was born on December 5, 1955, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of Ralph H. and Edna (Louise) Hammersmith. He graduated from Defiance High School in 1975. While in Ohio, he lived in both the Napoleon and Toledo areas until moving to Michigan, where he spent the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his three brothers, Craig (Chris), Dennis (Laura) and Edward (Linda) of Defiance; a sister, Kathy (Matt) Brunner of Waterville; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his longtime friend, Tim Tuckerman, Douglas, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ronald, Tom and Phillip.
Respecting his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society of Schoolcraft, Mich., has handled the arrangements.
