James H.  McDaniel
James H. McDaniel, Sr., 86, died on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Philomena (DeVono) McDaniel.

James was born in Red Lion on December 26, 1930, son of the late William Claude and Minnie V. (Flinchbaugh) McDaniel.

James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired as the owner and operator of Jim Mack’s Ice Cream. He was a member of the Pleasureville American Legion Post # 799 and a life member of the Kreutz Creek Valley VFW Post # 7045. James was an avid hunter and fisherman.

James is survived by his former wife, Judith (McDaniel) Shuster of DE; daughter, Elizabeth A. Mitzel and her husband, Gregory of Felton; son, James H. McDaniel, Jr. of Hellam; grandson, Dalton J. Mitzel of York; two stepsons, William S. Gee of Philadelphia and James S. Gee of AK; eight siblings, Louise Godfrey of York, Phyllis (Shorty) Scheffman of Lancaster, Flo (Dolly) Myers of Elizabethtown, William (Bill) McDaniel of FL, JoAnne McCubbin of York, Susanne Myers of York, Carolyn Ream of DE, and David (Butch) McDaniel of Dover.

Following cremation, private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
