Obituary for Irene Toni Harrington (Grass)
Harrington, Irene T. of Minne-tonka, MN died peacefully on November 27, 2017 at the age of 98. Irene is survived by son Peter (Kris) and her two grandchildren Ted and Dan, son Rob, (Linda) and her two grandchildren Austin and April, son Paul and many nieces and nephews. Irene is preceded in death by husband Frank after 51 years of marriage, and by her parents John and Lydia Gross and 8 brothers and sisters. Irene was born on January 25, 1919 in Cleveland, ND. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1938 where she excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a business degree in 1942. While working in the banking industry she met her husband Frank and married in 1948. They raised their family in Minnetonka where she was very active in her Catholic church community. Irene was an avid golfer at the Minnetonka Country Club and enjoyed playing bridge throughout her life with her many friends. The wake is scheduled for Thursday November 30, 2017 at 4-7 PM with prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Huber Funeral Home, 520 Second Street, Excelsior, MN 55331. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday December 1, 2017 at 12 Noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 680 Mill Street, Excelsior, MN 55331 (952-474-8868). Visitation will also be for 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. A reception will follow the service. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Shorewood.
