Obituary for Gretchen Caroline Tiarks (Tiarks)
Gretchen C. Hackbarth-Tiarks, age 76, of Fond du Lac, died Friday evening, December 1, 2017, at HCR ManorCare in Fond du Lac. She was born on July 1, 1941 in Almond, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edgar and Leila (Grosse) Tiarks.
She enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, square dancing, camping, and crossword puzzles, but her world would light up with the time spent with her grandchildren. Family was a very important part of Gretchen’s life.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Hackbarth, Jr. and Jeffrey (Cynthia) Hackbarth, both of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Brittnee, Dustin, Adam, and Ryan; two great-sons, Kaleb and Ethan; and a brother, Robert (Pat) Tiarks of Butler, Wisconsin. Preceding Gretchen in death are her parents and a great-grandson, Tyler.
Private family services will be held. Memorials in Gretchen’s name to Special Olympics would be deeply appreciated. To the staff of HCR ManorCare, thank you for the care and love shown to Gretchen over the years she resided there.
