José Luis Sanchez, 76, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Midland.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mass at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 NE Avenue K, in Andrews with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM – 9 PM on Thursday and Friday, and Rosary services will be at 7:30 Friday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. José was born on December 1, 1941 in Gualterio, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose Sanchez and Priciliana Torres Sanchez. He was raised in Gualterio and moved to Lovington, New Mexico. He married Estela Rodriguez on May 25, 1970 in Lovington. They moved to Andrews in 1971. He had worked for the Andrews County Golf Course, as a roustabout for Stewart Welding, Inc., roofing for Mr. Blocker and Benny Hoover. He had retired as a die cast operator for Kirby West Vacuum Cleaner Plant after 28 years. He enjoyed talking to people, reading history books, collected tools and arrowheads, cooking chicharrons, and he loved his 1976 Chevrolet truck. He was proud of his heritage and culture. He will be known for his friendship to many people and for helping people. He was very smart, funny, and had a great mind and memory, especially on history. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 sister.

José is survived by his wife, Estela R. Sanchez of Andrews; 1 son, José E. Sanchez and wife, Rosie Salcido, of Andrews; 5 sisters, Maria Sepulveda of Andrews, Felipa, Manuela, and Lionor Sanchez, all of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Tona Sanchez of Gualterio, Mexico; 4 grandchildren, José E. Sanchez and wife, Lluva, Nayely Villarreal and husband, José III, Cristian Sanchez, Anahi Sanchez of Andrews, all of them from Andrews; 3 great grandchildren, Lelayni Sanchez, Jaraneli Villarreal, and Nylah Sanchez, of them from Andrews.
