I'm so proud of my mom for learning how to cook! She was well-known for burning everything. Biscuits (hockey pucks), kitchen curtains... Someone mentioned once how amazing it was that all her children became really good cooks and I think it was one of my sisters who said, "We had to...to survive." lol.
But in the last year of her life, Mum became a fan of Jamie Oliver. She got some of his recipes on cards that showed the finished dish on the front, and the instructions on the back. She taught herself how to make those meals and turned out restaurant-quality dishes on a weekly basis! She arranged the food exactly like it was shown on the cards, then she'd snap a picture and send it to me. I didn't think she could get any more amazing but she did!
