Obituary for George W. Dowse
George W. Dowse Jr. of Clarks Summit died Monday December 11, 2017 at the Mountain View Care Center following a brief illness. His wife of 57 years is the former Josephine Armbrust.
Born in Scranton he was the son the late George and Katherine Wells Dowse. A graduate of West Scranton High School, he attended The Citadel where he played football. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Notarianni Produce.
Also surviving are son George Dowse III and wife Laura, New Jersey; grandson George Dowse IV, Washington; 3 sisters; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton with Reverend Dr. Elliott Cooke, Pastor of Jackson Street Baptist Church as officiant. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
