Obituary for Rodney Duane Fender

Rodney Duane Fender, 80, of Wills Point went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services celebrating Rod’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Pastor Shannon Salsman officiating. Interment will take place at Pateros Cemetery in Pateros, Washington.

Rod was born on January 17, 1937 in Twisp, Washington. He is the son of the late Lloyd Fender and Rose Hatch Fender. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force where during the Cold War he worked in top security satellite communications and traveled the world. After the military he worked for RCA where he helped develop the transponders for the Lunar Space Modules for NASA. In 1999, he retired from the oil field and enjoyed his retirement with Wanda traveling the country. In 2005 he settled in the Lake Tawakoni area. He was also preceded in death by his wives Ethel Fender and Wanda Fender, sons J. D. Lott, Jesse Lott, Vincent Fender and daughter Rachel Fender. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and always had a project going.

He is loved and will be missed by his sons Larry and Robbie Lott of Cotton Valley, LA, Everett Lott of Shreveport, LA, Jack and Teresa Couch of Nashville, TN, Shawn Fender of Longview, TX, Freddie Fisher of Weatherford, TX, Butch and Margaret Hall of Alabama; daughters Wilma Jean Vincent of Shreveport, LA, Mona and Gavin Thompson of Houston, TX, Cynthia Crouch of Shreveport, LA., Stephanie and Jon Loftin of Paris, TX, Stacie Scheck of Carrolton, TX; brothers Lloyd Fender of Wenatchee, WA; sister Delores Alexander of Mansfield, WA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
