Obituary for Treva L Campbell

Treva Lucille Campbell, loving Daughter of the late Cary and Mable Campbell, was born on July 26, 1931 in Guilford County, North Carolina. After a brief illness, she departed this earth peacefully on December 11, 2017.

Treva was the oldest of 7 children. She attended Dudley High School in North Carolina. After attending school, she worked on the farm, and tended to her siblings. Treva attended and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church while she was young. In 1954, Treva came to Boston to find employment opportunities, but the stay was short. In 1957, Treva and her family returned to Boston for her new life, and found a job at Lorraine Handbags. Other jobs she held included Zayre’s, Bradlees, Morgan Laundry, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

After her retirement, she enjoyed her independence and spending time with her family and friends that lived in her apartment complex. In her spare time, Treva enjoyed hosting card games, playing Pokeno, Bid Whist, UNO, playing video games (her favorites were Bowling, Super Mario Bros, and Monopoly), baking her famous rum cakes and pinto beans for family gatherings, and always staying up to date with everything going around her by listening to her police radio 24/7.

Treva is survived by her three children, Trevette, Elaine, and Keith; her grandchildren Latavia, Michael, Trevon, and Marcus; her two sisters, Mary Grady of Boston and Judy Grubbs of Georgia; one brother, Roosevelt Campbell of Boston, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin, Paul, and Wilbert. She leaves behind to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friend Annie Bell Bellinger.

Treva was loved by all, and was a shining light in everyone’s life. She lived a long, fruitful life on her terms, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She was adored, and she will be missed, but we are all at peace, because she has gone Home to be with the Lord.

There will be a Viewing on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02121

Interment: Oak Lawn Cemetery.
