Obituary for Joan M. Dygon

Joan M. Dygon
Joan M. Dygon, 81 of Chadwick Beach Island went to be with the Lord, with her family by her side on Thursday, December 21, 2017 after a long illness. Joan was born and raised in Bayonne where she was a graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar School and Bayonne High School. Joan worked for PSE&G, and in 1960 married the love of her life, Stanley and started her family, residing in Bayonne most of her life. She was involved with all her children’s activities whether it was through school, sports, or Girl Scouts. Joan and her family enjoyed many wonderful summers at their home of 47 years at Chadwick Beach Island and moved there permanently in 2004. Joan was a communicant of St. Andrews while living in Bayonne and St. Pio of Pietrelcina while living in Chadwick Beach.
Joan had an easy going spirit, beautiful smile and supportive ways. She enjoyed going to the beach or boardwalk, taking a ride to visit relatives in Pennsylvania or going out for a surf and turf dinner. In her later years, despite her illness she lived life to its fullest and was stronger than anyone could imagine. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, cereal in the morning and the Young and the Restless (especially Victor), and reading the newspaper. But most of all Joan loved her three daughters and was devoted to them.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 36 years Stanley J. Dygon in 1996 and her parents Joseph and Mary (Kurtz) O’Brien. She is survived by her three beloved daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine Dygon of Matawan, NJ, Patricia Bentivegna of Staten Island, NY and Maryanne Clark and her husband John of Middletown, NJ. Joan is also survived by her five cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Joseph, John Patrick, Connor and Ryan. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend Margaret Gunsiorowski, brother Daniel O’Brien (late wife Janet) and several nieces and nephews. Joan also enjoyed special time with her fur grandbabies Toby and Molly.
