Joan Jeannette Jackson, 69 of Ford, Va., passed away Monday, December 25, 2017. She was preceded in death by her son, David Pinkney Jackson, Jr. Joan is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Pinkney Jackson, Sr.; four daughters, Melony Jackson, Jeanette Faye Pack (Len), Jennifer Avelsgard and Montana Jackson; three grandchildren, Terry Edwards, Christopher Avelsgard and Kevin Avelsgard; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Pack, Alana Jackson-Lewis, Nicholas Avelsgard and Autum Avelsgard; her twin sister, Jean Toth (George); sister, Janice Hyman; two brothers, Gary Connelly (Maggie) and Johnny Connelly (Stephanie); and many other loving relatives. Joan was an animal lover and loved to cook, especially fruitcakes. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Dr. Jim Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
