Tom WAS Love in action

Tom was a very caring, thoughtful, devoted, and loyal man whose everyday activities included prayers and mass. He lived his life giving of himself to those in need of care and attention within his family AND outside his family as well. He lifted up those whose lives he touched, he listened with patience and he always spoke with kindness....even when he encountered life challenging events himself. In addition to raising his children, he took great pride in contributing towards the upbringing of his grandkids. Many a West Htfd. resident can recall seeing him proudly walking with Jake around the center of West Htfd. Tom also became a friend to an immeasurable number of St. Peter Claver parishioners during his many years serving that church community. He had dear friendships from his work life as a director in insurance as well as from spearheading the Notre Dame Htfd. Alumni Assoc. He helped senior citizens in West Htfd. with their taxes at the Senior Center. Last but not least, Tom was a cherished and loyal friend who assisted those whose lives were compromised by age, health issue or hospitalization with his uplifting visits or a helping hand. Tom was never "all about Tom". Tom was all about reaching out, being empathetic, and putting his kind thoughts/words into action. He lived purposely and solely for the reason God made us all. And that is...to love. Tom WAS love. He loved with all his heart those who opened their heart or home to him. Tom lived his entire life as a very humble and devoted man of God. Surely on Dec. 25th when he entered his heavenly home, God opened His arms and embraced our Tom saying "Welcome home, my dear son. Thank you for doing all the work I sent you to do faithfully amongst every soul I sent your way."
