Message: Susan became my first friend in 1948 after I was adopted and brought to Joplin by John & Eva Edwards who were neighbors of Floyd & Olive. I was almost 5 so Susan had to be 3. I remember my new mother telling me to get a piece of candy out of a drawer and give to Susan and she would be my friend. She was right. We played together and continued to be friends. Susan was in my wedding in 1966. We have led separate lives but the bond we made as children has lasted and I will miss her sense of humor until I join her in her new home.
