Obituary for Earnest Cline Blair

Earnest C. Blair – Gate City, VA
Earnest Cline Blair, 83, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Blair was born in Scott County, VA on May 23, 1934. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Georgia Mae (Musick) Blair.
He was a retired self-employed brick mason. He attended Blair’s Chapel, Moore’s Chapel, and Copper Creek Church.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Allie Fair (Frazier) Blair (Granny); brothers, Ed Blair, Emerson Blair, and Wallace Blair; and son-in-law, David Nelson preceded him in death.
Surviving him are his daughters, Phyllis Nelson, Pamela Hutchins and husband, Leroy, and Robin Amburgey and husband, Bob; son, Earnest Christopher (Chris) Blair and wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Angela Free and husband, Donny, Martha Amburgey, Nick Ambrugey and wife, Karen, Justin Quillen, Cody Blair, Paige Blair, Brooke Blair, Justin Blair, Payton Blair, Matthew Kelly, and Michael Kelly; great grandchildren, Jeremy Free, Camryn Free, Lilly Ann Amburgey, Allie Amburgey, and Eymerson Hobbs; along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clayton Williams officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Strong Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Justin Blair, Cody Blair, Dakota Pearcy, Matthew Kelly, Jody Pearcy, and Justin Quillen will serve as pallbearers. Bill Pearcy, Jeff Oaks, Bobby Oaks, Phillip Tipton, Jeremy Free, Mike Oaks, Tommy Tipton, and Jack Pearcy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the Gate City Funeral Home at 1:15p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
