James F.  Carberry Jr.
James F. “Poppy” Carberry Jr., age 66, of Summit St., in Brookville, PA, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, as a patient of the UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Jim was born on February 16, 1951, to James F. “Pappy” Carberry Sr., who survives him, and to the late Myrla R. (Holibaugh) Carberry. Jim graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1969. On September 6, 1969, he married Darlene L. (Emerick) Carberry, and after 48 years of marriage, Darlene survives him. Partnering with his dad, they owned and operated Carberry’s Arco, later known as Carberry’s Mobile, which was the service station situated on Main St., in Brookville, where the town square park is now located. They also operated the BP Gas Station that was located on the Allegheny Boulevard. Jim was a Master Technician for General Motors vehicles and he worked for Bob Stoltz and Brookville Chevrolet. He loved hunting, fishing, his Rottweiler’s Minne and Zoey, and he especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Jim was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983, in Brookville, PA, and a lifetime member of the NRA. Those who knew him loved his sense of humor, and his ability to get a rise out of people. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife and father, Jim is survived by 1 daughter; Andrea (Adam) Gerber of Bartow, FL; 2 sons; Jimmy (Kristi) Carberry of Brookville, PA; Jeff (Kellie) Carberry of Brookville, PA; 1 brother; Greg (Molly) Carberry; 3 sisters; Debbie (Tom) Fleeger, Chris (Steve) Koladish, Marsha Carberry; 10 grandchildren; Jessica and Jake Gerber; Jeremy, James, Mary, Calin, and Bella Carberry; Keelan, Bryce, and Brayden Kunselman. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 4 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018, also at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00am, and officiated by Rev. Chuck Jack. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gateway Humane, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek PA, 15840.
